General Information
General Purpose:
Decision making in health care is increasingly complex in western societies. Increasing data availability and knowledge create a demand for academic researchers and higher education practitioners in the field of Operations Research and Management Science in the field of Health Care. In 2007 The Nederlands Genootschap Besliskunde (Dutch OR Society) initiated a platform to exchange ideas between academic researchers and practitioners of both worlds. As part of this initiative a congress will be organized at the Erasmus University Rotterdam on Tuesday November 18, 2008 entitled: “Operations Research & Health Care”. As part of the conference a conference diner will be organized the day before, monday November 17 (6:00 p.m.), at the Erasmus University campus. The focus of the conference is to close the gap between health care managers, practitioners and academic researchers.
Set up of the Parallel sessions:
The parallel sessions are organized per theme. Each consists of a chair who introduces the theme from a practical point of view, followed by three to four academic talks. We invite youto submit an abstract for the parallel sessions. The sessions may follow topics such as:
• Medical decision making
• Health informatics and information systems
• Patient flow optimization
• Operating room planning and scheduling
• Material flow optimization
• Staffing
• Disease modeling and clinical pathways
• Health Care systems and capacity
• Business process re-design
• DSS
• Performance measurement
